Details

Over 12 months in development and with 10,000 miles of real varied testing from fast road use to Green Laning.

This kit was born after trying the other kits on the market and being disappointed with the way they ride and especially handle.
We wanted a kit that felt as much like standard as possible, but with the look and more importantly the increased ground clearance that is so desirable in a Syncro.

So… We’ll call it a 40mm lift kit for 2 Wheel Drive T3 models…
Thats 40mm from STANDARD NEW ORIGINAL SPEC springs, and if we’re honest a little “conservative” based on the vehicles we’ve fitted them to.
We can’t stress this enough, because even if you’re running standard height springs you are likely already lower than when your T3 rolled out of the factory.

Another disclaimer… we say “40mm”.
If your T3 is a heavy weight camper such as a fully loaded Westfalia you may not see exactly 40mm.
If your T3 is a little lighter, something like a Multivan, or Caravelle… you may see a little more.
Empty Panel Van? You will very likely see quite a bit more lift. We cant do anything about that other than suggest you get some bags of sand 🙂

For Comparison, the standard height of a VW Multivan is 1950mm at the highest point of the roof. The test vehicle with a full tank of fuel is a little over 2metres…

Oh, whilst we’re talking about disclaimers… VW built a really good van when they built the T3. They designed everything to work well and last. And they did a really good job.
By fitting this kit, you’re changing things… and that means things that have been doing their job just fine for years may suddenly say “enough” as you’re asking them to do things they’re not designed to do.
Things like CV joints which for years have been operating within a certain range are now running on driveshafts at a different angle.
Suspension components such as bushes may decide that they don’t really like their new working conditions…
Brakes will be working harder because you’re running bigger wheels and tyres…

Basically, what we’re saying is be aware that what you are expecting your vehicle to do will have an effect on other components somewhere down the line.

Back to the kit. You will receive:

2x Front Gas Adjustable Dampers
2x Rear Gas Adjustable Dampers
2x “40mm” Front Lift Springs
2x “40mm”  Rear Lift Springs
2x Ball Joint Spacers
2x Satin Black Brickwerks own design 2WD Door Sticker.

We will not sell these components separately. They are all designed to be fitted together as a kit. No matter what anyone says, standard dampers at this level of lift are neither suitable or safe. Please dont ask.

Dampers are Krypton Gas Adjustable made exclusively for us by Spax and to our specification based on testing.

Springs are again made to our spec and supplied as a matched set. Again, we wont split the kit.

Further notes.
As time has gone on and after a few years of selling this kit then one thing that has come to light is the accelerated wear of the CV joints, especially on Diesel models.
As the gearboxes on Diesel models are mounted slightely higher that their petrol counterparts then the accelerated wear of the CV joints seems to affect Diesel models more than petrols due to the increased angle that the drive shafts run at.
Worry not, there is something you can do to counteract this problem, either fit CV joint spacers or use Porsche type CV joints, clearly lowering the gearbox doesn’t gain much as it goes on to affect further parts, gearlinkage and such.
Obvoulsy a set of spacers is a bit cheaper than a set of Porsche CV joints! and yes, you’ll need some longer CV joint bolts, they are related items to the spacers.
